Proper preparation is essential for successfully completing your TRECCERT certification exam. Ensuring your equipment, environment, and mindset are ready ahead of time can help you perform your best on exam day. Use this guide to prepare effectively for your TRECCERT exam.

Key Steps for Pre-Exam Preparation

1. Check Equipment Requirements

TRECCERT exams are conducted online through a proctoring platform. To avoid technical issues, ensure your equipment meets the following requirements:

  • Camera and Microphone:

    • A functioning webcam and microphone are mandatory for proctoring.

  • Internet Connection:

    • Minimum download speed: 1 Mbps

    • Minimum upload speed: 1 Mbps

  • Operating System:

    • Windows 10 or later (Windows 10 S Mode is not supported)

    • macOS 10.15 or later

  • Web Browser:

    • Latest version of Google Chrome (with the ProctorU extension installed)

  • Other Hardware:

    • Single monitor setup (multiple monitors are not allowed)

    • Screen resolution: At least 1920 x 1080

To test your equipment, use the ProctorU Equipment Test Tool.

2. Prepare Your Exam Environment

Your exam environment must meet TRECCERT’s proctoring standards. Ensure the following:

  • Quiet Space: Choose a location free from distractions and interruptions.

  • Proper Lighting: The room should be well-lit so the proctor can see you clearly.

  • Clean Desk Policy: Remove any unauthorized materials or devices from your workspace.

  • Internet Stability: Use a wired internet connection, if possible, for reliable performance.

3. Familiarize Yourself with Exam Rules

TRECCERT exams are strictly monitored to ensure fairness. Familiarize yourself with the rules, including:

  • No unauthorized materials or notes are allowed.

  • Electronic devices such as phones and smartwatches must be out of reach.

  • Your webcam must capture your entire face and workspace at all times.

4. Optimize Your Schedule

Plan your exam for a time when you are most alert and focused. Avoid scheduling your exam during times of potential interruptions or when you may feel fatigued.

Final Checklist for Exam Day

  1. Test your equipment and internet connection at least 24 hours before your exam.

  2. Prepare your workspace and remove any unauthorized items.

  3. Have your valid ID ready for verification.

  4. Log in to the proctoring platform 2–3 minutes before your scheduled exam time.

Pre-exam preparation is key to success. By following these steps and utilizing GRC Lab’s resources, you can approach your TRECCERT certification exam with confidence and ease.
