CRISC has a trap of its own: the vocabulary feels familiar. Risk appetite, inherent versus residual risk, KRIs versus KPIs, ownership versus accountability — most candidates use these words every week, so the manual reads like things they already know. Then the exam asks them to apply the distinctions exactly, scenario by scenario, and "roughly right" stops being enough. In the classroom, that gap surfaces early: you work through scenarios with the group, defend your answer out loud, and your trainer pins down where your working definitions drift from ISACA's. Better to find that out in the room than in question 40.

By the last afternoon you'll have covered all four domains with official ISACA materials. Then you can walk down the hall and sit the exam while everything is still fresh. No second trip, no waiting weeks for an appointment, no unbooked exam sitting on your to-do list.
